Today, it refers to art that is widely known for its unique ideas and methods of expression by people who have not received specialized art education.
Tachikawa Twinkle Garden
This is a collaborative work between Okinawa-born projection mapping creator Hiroshige Gima and art brut artists. It is a story of friendship between a boy and a fairy set in the nature of Tama.
Introducing collaborative art brut works
Harumi
I made this using lace yarn and colored sand. It reminded me of a field of flowers blooming.
-
Chikako
I mainly use lace thread and colored sand to create collages.
Hydrangea in the rain
Hydrangeas become more beautiful the more they are hit by rain. Even snails are entranced by their beauty.
-
Chiwawan
I have loved drawing since I was a child, and I want to continue doing so for the rest of my life. I love the time I spend drawing, because it makes me forget about time and become innocent.
The wind shines
I used crayon to draw a flower field bathed in sunlight.
To bring out the warmth of the light, I added more purple and blue to the shadow areas, creating a deeper contrast.
-
cocoa float
I suffered from social anxiety disorder since my university days, and then developed depression.Since 2016, I have been attending a psychiatric day care center and have been drawing with colored pencils for therapeutic purposes.
Breath
I painted a forest illuminated by light, awakening at the moment.
Based on the theme of being released from a long winter and moving towards a bright future, I created a soft, warm piece.
I added purple and red to the green to add depth.

TAKUROMAN
Unable to forget their childhood dream, at the age of 35 they made up their mind to enroll in a manga school, where they learned drawing techniques directly from Takakuwa Mae, author of the book "Human Body Sketch," which had impressed them.
With the concept of "Art Happens," they are inspired by the shapes that appear by chance when drawing, find a theme, and finish it into a work.
At their events, they feature live painting performances in which the process of drawing digital art is projected on a screen and a work is created.
SILT
A group of 10 sand artists who have established the world's first performance style by multiple people.
Representative director Funamoto Keita and Shion appeared at this event.
They represented Japan at the Astana World Expo (Kazakhstan).
They have been active internationally, producing music videos for the Grammy Award-winning American band A Great Big World, promotional videos for the Academy Award-winning film "DUNE,"
a screening of their film at Japan Week in Finland, and an appearance at the "International LNG Conference" in Australia.
XTRAP
XTRAP is a dance art group that captivates audiences with their original finger dance art shows.
They received rave reviews on Asia's Got Talent, one of the world's largest audition programs, and their performance video for their representative work, "Finger Kaleidoscope," became a hot topic around the world.
They perform shows all over the country, and their overwhelming worldview brightens up venues.
